KnoxCorps

KnoxCorps is a civic engagement partnership between Knox College and the Galesburg Community Foundation. Seven Knox undergraduates and six graduates, or KnoxCorps fellows, collaborate with local non-profit organizations on new projects and initiatives in the Galesburg community.

KnoxCorps members include: Ruth Amerman, sophomore, Northfield, MN, assigned to the Galesburg Public Schools; Laura Ernst, sophomore, Naperville, IL, assigned to Carl Sandburg College; Khadija Boussen, sophomore, Tunis, Tunisia, assigned to the Knox County Health Department; Max Potthoff, junior, Western Springs, IL, assigned to the Cyclists of Galesburg; Kristen Marvin, Little Falls, MN, assigned to the United Way of Knox County; Josh Hosmer Quint, senior, Columbia, MO, assigned to the Downtown Council; Bridget Shannon Doherty, sophomore, Oak Park, IL, assigned to FISH Food Pantry. Post-graduate fellows include: Elizabeth Cockrell, Jacksonville, IL, Human Links Foundation Fellow, assigned to the Sustainable Business Center; Hannah Benning, Island Lake, IL, We Are Galesburg Fund Fellow, assigned to the Galesburg Community Foundation and Sixteenth Section Fund; Juliette Campbell, Tacoma, WA, F&M Bank Fellow, assigned to the Discovery Depot; Emma Poland, Arlington, VA, Knox County Health Department Fellow, assigned to the Knox County Health Department; Isaac Miller, Manhattan, New York, Galesburg Community Foundation Fellow, assigned to the Prairie Players Civic Theater; and Jules Ohman, Portland, OR, Kleine Equipment, Inc. Fellow, assigned to the Galesburg Area Chamber of Commerce.

    Hi, Jules – How great that you started a blog about things going on in Galesburg. As a former Knox student myself, albeit one who’s back on campus several times a year, I relate to what you said about not really knowing the community of Galesburg and its people while you were a student. I wish there had been better ways for us to connect with the Galesburg community while I lived there. How wonderful that you’ve developed such an appreciation for the people of the Galesburg heartland, and how lucky they are to have you and the other Knox students and alums giving back to them.
